Ideas To Declutter Your Entertainment Centre
Hands up if you have a TV wall or entertainment centre filled with old VCRs, DVD players, CDs, VHS tapes, speakers and other components you no longer use?
I recently cleaned up my own TV area and my parents’ as well to get rid of all of those ugly boxes and cords and simplify the entertainment wall. It makes such a difference in making more space both functionally and visually - meaning a feeling of calm instead of overwhelm.
With streaming TV services and wireless components, many of the boxes and cords we used to need are thankfully no longer a part of our lives. Good riddance! So I say let’s take advantage of that to make TV walls look better than ever.
Ideas for simplifying your entertainment area:
Turn a beautiful old armoire or credenza into a TV storage space with doors that close and hide it when not in use.
DIY a dresser to hide the few components you still have. Nice and clean.
Use decorative crates, baskets or bins to hide components and cords, and add greenery around the TV to make it seem more of a natural part of the room's décor.
Hang the TV and mix it with a gallery wall of art.
Build the TV and components into a shelving display.
Make the TV an artistic focal point all on its own.
Don't forget to designate a spot for your remote controls - such as in a tray or basket near where you use them.
One final thing: I highly recommend removing the TV and all the cords, remotes and all that goes with it from your bedroom. Read more about why here.
